Day 2 - Galway to Westport

So many beautiful things are falling down all around me!

My boyfriend makes the best brown bread. It's one of the reasons I love him so much!

Garvey's Bar! (It's by the bus station.)

Teacher's!

Fibber Magee's! My second stop on my "waiting for the bus self-guided beer tour."

Random marching band. I'm pretty sure they were playing "Some Nights" by FUN.

Red white and blue for the 4th!

The hacker fugitive on the bus said this place was a "shit-hole." He is my favorite idiot.

I don't know what this is referring to, but I want in.

I started with brown bread and seafood chowder and ended with this. I don't think anyone's surprised.

Day 3 - Exploring Westport

This bird decided to join me for coffee. He was so close that I could see his blue eyes!

The sunshine decided to join me, too, but briefly.

At least two staff members have come out to ask me about my solar charger:

Each one made a joke about using a solar charger in Ireland, where sunshine is not the norm.

Last night I dreamt that I had my warm purple hoodie and that people kept moving my tent during the night. Neither were true.

A woman on the street in Westport to tell me that it might rain. I laughed because it had just rained within the past minute.

You might not be able to tell what this is, BUT IT'S ZIPLINING! They have lots of other crazy/excellent things here like zorbing:

Zorbing: get inside a humongous ball and then we roll you down a hill. There may or may not be water inside the ball with you.

Slugs are huge here.

... Cool plants growing out of a wall...

... Gigantic mushroom...

... Enormous tree system that was cut down so they could build the path...

... Fascia...

... Seafood chowder and brown bread...

... Westport House...

Those sheep/goats (top of the hill) were bleating all night long!

According to my waitress, "the pointy one" is the one I will climb tomorrow!

This dog wanted my non-existent leftovers.

... Street near Clew Bay...

...

...

Ropes course!

Parking lot that I am pretty sure has giant hogweed.

This might be giant hogweed.

Day 1 - Getting to Galway

This was probably the scariest but best flight I have ever been on. The plane seated 22 people, including the pilot and copilot. I sat at the front of the plane and their was no partition between the passengers and the pilot. I could see the entire landing, which was terrifying and wonderful! It felt like I was about to lose control of the car for the entire landing.

Leaving Toronto! My camera kept flashing and I felt like an idiot.

There you are LOVER...

Falling Slowly was playing on the bus! However, the driver seems to be a huge fan of American country music. :(

... And then a migraine!

Day 5

For today, I had to read the short response below to the question "How is the internet changing the way you think?"

Schank

I promise it is fast, but you should read it. What do you think?

I will also be going deep sea fishing today, but I am not taking my camera on the boat! Exciting day, but not for you.

Day 4

iCinemagraph

How does the music move you? (Thinking of better working to evoke the feeling of make your music meaningful and able to move people physically and emotionally. If you have any ideas, leave them in the comments! I have to turn it in tomorrow!) These three images should all have a single form of movement in them. If there is no movement, refresh the page!

Which version of the guitarist below do you like better?

Perception Quickfire (60 minutes)

Today we also worked on perception with audio. We distorted a sound clip and added a picture at the end that we think the audio evokes. Then, we put the original sound clip at the end to compare.

Day 3

Today, our task was to redesign the online discussion experience. We focused on discussion boards and their inherent problems. For instance, discussions are often very surface level and contrived. Students post because they have to, not because they are engaged in what they are doing.

Here are a bunch of photos from the pub Tig Coili, or house of music in Gaelic (according to the cab driver). Below is a video of one of their pieces. At the bottom of the page, you will find our finished piece for the school news. It has some great shots, but we are already making a list of things we would like to improve on for next time.

Finnnegan's

Weird cafeteria style outdoor seating!

This is the final video for the music portion of the weekly news. The music doesn't line up with the playing, but that is our goal for next week's video.
